This home was built on the foundations of the original house.
It was beautifully finished with several different vertical surfaces including zinc, stone, tile, render and cedar. The challenge of marrying these different faces was met with complete focus, considering all aspects of making the building watertight.
The measurements of the structural steel frames had to be to the millimeter, as several roofs were built to accommodate light.
The site had a serious sub flow drainage problem, where water was travelling beneath the house. With our combined experience and a ‘what would JMH have done?’ attitude, the problem was solved. A series of trenches and pipes to the street gutter were built, and this was so successful that the council built a street drain at the outlet to accommodate the volume of water.
The owner had requested to keep and protect the mosaic kitchen splash back, which was delivered.
The owners were very happy with their new three levels and two beautiful decks, the constructed building was converted into a loving family home.
